The following is a list of Shinobi Ranks in Senran Kagura. There are a total of 19 ranks ranging from Shinobi Student all the way to Kagura.

Shinobi Ranks

All shinobi start off as Shinobi Students when they first begin training at their Shinobi School of choice. They later have the chance to increase their Shinobi Rank during school by taking a Promotion Exam. This is why it's possible for students to assume a variety ranks despite having not graduated.

From lowest to highest, the ranks are as follows:

  • Lesser Shinobi (下忍, Genin): In-game they are shown as enemies that use shuriken.
  • Acolyte Shinobi (中忍, Chūnin): In-game they are shown as enemies that use a bow and arrow.
  • Greater Shinobi (上忍, Jōnin, Literally meaning: High Shinobi): In-game they are shown as enemies that use swords.
  • Anointed Shinobi (隠密, Onmitsu, Literally meaning: Spy): In-game they are shown as enemies dressed up as various animals.
  • Major Shinobi (特上忍, Tokujōnin, Literally meaning: Special High Shinobi):
  • High Shinobi Shinobi (最上忍, Saijōnin, Literally meaning: Extreme High Shinobi):
  • Superior Shinobi (天上忍, Tenjōnin, Literally meaning: Heavenly High Shinobi):
  • Elite Shinobi (極上忍, Gokujōnin, Literally meaning: Utmost High Shinobi):

  • Ganin (餓忍, Literally meaning: Hungry Shinobi):
  • Zetsunin (絶忍, Literally meaning: Absolute Shinobi):
  • Gounin (轟忍, Literally meaning: Thunder Shinobi):
  • Kyonin (虚忍, Literally meaning: Empty Shinobi):
  • Kagenin (影忍, Literally meaning: Shadow Shinobi):
  • Sennin (殱忍, Literally meaning: Annihilation Shinobi):
  • Manjinin (卍忍, Literally meaning: Swastika Shinobi):
  • Oboronin (朧忍, Literally meaning: Gloom Shinobi):
  • Hinin (飛忍, Literally meaning: Flying Shinobi):
  • Kagura (カグラ): The highest shinobi rank and very apex of shinobi mastery. A title given to those who fight yōma on the front line.
