Story

The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and so it is with the lives of young shinobi. Death comes swiftly — for the lucky ones — and, for those still living, grief is a constant companion. Ryōbi and Ryōna, two shinobi sisters of the Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy elite, know that truth all too well, and they mourn their beloved elder sister every day.

But, when a mystical phenomenon appears, drawing the shinobi world’s finest young ladies into a parallel dimension, everything they know about life and death turns upside down. Taken to a strange world resembling a warm summer island, the girls find themselves face to face with their departed loved ones.

The island’s mysterious mistresses challenge the girls, who hail from four rival schools, to a contest of strength and wits. The winning school, she promises, will not only learn the highest secrets of shinobi lore, but will also have the honour of laying their loved ones’ souls to rest.

The buxom beauties prepare for a new kind of battle, facing not only their rivals, but questions galore. Can the island's hosts be trusted? Will the other schools play fair, team up, or cheat? Will there be time to enjoy the beach before the fighting starts? Will anyone manage to keep their clothes intact? And… if they win, can they bear to be parted from their loved ones a second time?

Gameplay

Game Flow

  • Mission-Based Gameplay: From the Beach Menu, you can start a mission or prepare for one by getting changed.
  • Adventure Scenes: Adventure scenes advance the story by presenting character dialogues and visual novel sequences. Watch the girls interact and challenge each other in these scripted cinematic scenes that introduce each stage. Hear the original Japanese voice-overs with English subtitles to see how training is performed and conflicts are born, while finding hidden depths to each girl by learning about their stories, friendships, and dreams.
  • Visual Novel Segments: The short stories, or visual novel-style segments, add even more depth to the world, revealing the history, customs, and conflicts of the shinobi realm. The inner thoughts and daily trials of the girls also come into play, all interspersed with beautiful artwork.
  • Action Scenes: The heart of the game, where you take control and battle! Play through various story missions or take on character-specific missions; either way, you'll be beating up enemies with the beautifully buxom ninja of your choice.

Costumes

Each character's costume has three parts: "Uniform," "Shinobi Outfit," and "Lingerie." Dress your favorite girl up in her best sexy outfit. Beat missions and earn grades to unlock hidden clothes, including the shinobi outfits of the opposing factions. From Pit Girl to Nurse, there are outfits to please everyone, and with an equally wide variety of accessories, each girl will have her own unique look.

Battle Basics

Each girl has her own style of martial arts to beat her foes. Make use of both strong and weak attacks to perform powerful combinations. A Combo Meter keeps track of how many attacks you chain on enemies, and the higher your combo score, the more XP you gain. Large combos also unlock new moves to deal even more damage! When you send your enemies flying, you can follow them into the air to perform an Aerial Rave, dealing further combos and damage even while airborne. If your mission includes an NPC partner, you can even pair up with them to take airborne enemies down with a Fusion Aerial Rave.

  • Clothing Destruction: Though the girls are masters at dealing out pain, they will inevitably

take damage now and again. Each hit the girls take reduces both their health gauge and their costume's durability. Their outfits slowly tear off bit by bit until all durability is lost and they're left in nothing but their lingerie! To add insult to injury, the fewer clothes they have the more damage they take.

Secret Ninja Arts

Each girl has a Ninja Art gauge which, when filled, lets that girl perform a "Shinobi Transformation." This unlocks each girl's true shinobi form and allows for powerful special attacks called "Secret Ninja Arts." These special attacks deal massive damage and have a wider range than normal attacks.

Flower of Balance

Returning from Shinovi Versus, the Flower of Balance allows the girls to attain special passive abilities through mastery of the three modes (Yin, Yang, Flash).

Changes from Shinovi Versus

  • Rather than a separate story for each team, Estival Versus features a single, unified story in which every character takes part. As a result, it is possible to replay any mission with any character, regardless of which team they belong to.
  • The ninja room has been replaced with a menu that has a dynamic scene in the background featuring one of the teams in bikinis, depending on which character is currently selected. Customization options such as hair and accessories will not appear on the menu, however custom swimsuits will.
  • The announcer heard during missions and on the menus can be changed in settings, rather than being character-dependent.
  • Accessories linked to a particular character, such as Murakumo's mask and Ryoki's halo can be removed by selecting them on the character select screen with the start or options buttons.
  • There is no distinction between transformed and non-transformed outfits. Any character can wear any outfit in either form.
  • Shinobi Girl's Heart stories, while still present, have to be unlocked through the main story first. This is likely because some of them feature spoilers.
  • Some missions feature AI-controlled characters to fight alongside the player. In these cases, the AI will follow the player when not fighting enemies, will transform when the player does, and can be revived by the player if they are defeated, though they cannot revive the player themselves. Should the player choose to play as a character that would normally be controlled by the AI when replaying a mission, the AI character will instead be the character the mission was originally for.
